Sometimes in life, we forget some vital lessons. Examinations in schools are not designed by vindictive teachers to put us in trouble and rejoice in our failing them. They are there to test the strength of the knowledge that they have passed on. The harder the tests, the more happy a teacher is to see his students do well. He gives harder and harder problems to solve in order to open up the thought processes and promises that exist in his favourite students, brush their intellect up and prepare them for bigger achievements.

The planets seem to do the same in life. They place pain, suffering, diseases and sometimes death in our path. But the purpose of it all is not to make life as miserable as possible for us. They are like those examinations in school which are there for us to rise up to the occasion and climb a level higher in the spiritual ladder, and not to break and fall.

When we see the characteristics that the different lagnas have, it surprises me to see that each and every one of them has so many rich possibilities for a soul born in it. And I realise that each and every one of us are born with a lot of wealth, a lot of promises. God has sent us down to play this incarnation with so many goodies in our pockets. It is for us to delve into them in times of trouble to overcome the depression, the desperation. We forget what we have been born with and lose faith in ourselves and our God. We blame Fate.

Jyotish can remind us of those potentials that exist in us. It also tells us of the limitations, the handicaps that we have, that we need to overcome. The Jyotishi plays the role of making us aware of ourselves. He helps us to remove the myths that we have created about ourselves and see oneself in the Divine light of clarity and truth. He teaches us to be aware about the areas in which we need to work. He explains why people often seem to misunderstand us and that it is natural for them to do so. He teaches us not to see ourselves in that mirror of society. He teaches us to have faith in our knowledge of ourselves.

And when we are able to do that, some miracle takes place. The moment we make up our mind and resolutely walk ahead, all impediments seem mysteriously simple to overcome. SOMEONE takes giant strides to boost our baby steps. Life is not that heavy anymore.

Regards,
